I love the aroma of fresh spices. I grow them myself at home. After another hurricane storm, the basil on my terrace was literally crushed. I did not want to throw it away. I picked up the leaflets that were still good, and so this recipe was born. It’s very easy and quick to prepare. You only need a blender. The appetizer is great to be spread on a slice of bread, for starter or a side dish to a main course.

Products you need:

1 jar of dried tomatoes with capers in olive oil (285 g is the whole content)

170 g green olives, pitted

1 cup of rinsed basil leaves

a pinch of sugar

1/2 head peeled garlic, with cloves separated

Preparation:

All products are blend in blender/chopper.

Tips:

Pesto is suitable for any improvisation. Be brave, you cannot make a mistake!

I do not add any salt because the olives and capers are very salty. You decide on your own, depending on the products you use.

If the blender/chopper jar is made out of plastic, do not put the garlic in it so that there is no residual odor. Press it separately with a garlic press.
